Are you creative, energetic, full of ideas? Can you make a headline sing, whip up quality articles quickly, turn mumbo-jumbo into everyman-speak? Do you know how to interview and quote multiple sources, keep to deadlines, and work well on your own?

Freelance writers needed for immediate contract job! You'll be working on Back to School articles for parents of preschool- grade 12 children. Must be available for immediate work. No need to come into the office-- this is a telecommuting position. Pay is $100 flat fee for each 600-800 word article. We are ideally looking for 5 people to take on 10 articles each. Work would start immediately.

In order to be considered, please follow the directions below:
1) Send a sample Back to School article, to give us a sense of your writing style. Please take a look at our site to get a feel for what we publish (www.education.com) before submitting. Our readers expect an approachable style, not an academic one, with concrete, actionable tips. The best content has quotes from experts in its introduction, and bulleted tips that give parents a takeway. (NOTE: We will never publish anything you send us without permission and payment.) We're very sorry, but unfortunately we need to see a sample Back to School article in order to consider you for this position. You will not be considered without one.

2) Paste your article directly in your email. NO ATTACHMENTS PLEASE!

3) Put "writer position" in the subject line of your email. No need for a resume, just tell us a little bit about yourself if you have relevant experience.

4) Please consider the fact that many writers will send us general articles on preparing for back to school-- try to pick something a little more unusual or niche as your topic.

This work will start immediately, with a deadline in early-to-mid July. Please do not apply if you are not available in this time frame.

Who We Are: Education.com is an easy-to-use, one-stop destination for parents of preschool- grade 12 aged children, that blends cutting-edge editorial, reference, and community. We cover topics across the parental spectrum—from how to make homemade finger-paint, to why autism is on the rise, guilt-free after school snacks, to navigating the parent-teacher conference. The site reaches 1.3 million unique visitors per month.
